Projects, roles, and sharing
Private chats
A chat you start outside a project is private. Nobody else in your organization can read it or its title, owners and
admins included.
Projects
Projects are how you share chats with your team. Everyone on a project reads its chats, and each question is answered
with the asker's own connectors. Teammates see the answers and which tool was searched, but only the person whose
account returned a result sees it in full. Sharing a chat shares the answers, never access to your tools.
- HQ: every organization has one. Owners, admins, and members are in it from the day they join. It can't be deleted,
archived, or left.
- Invite-only: only the people on it can see it. Owners and admins can find it and add themselves, and that's
recorded.
- All-Access: everyone in the organization can find it and join.
To start one, click the list's name above the chats in the sidebar (Recent at first), choose All projects…, then New
project.

Start a chat inside a project with New chat here on its page, or move one in with Change in the project line above the
chat. Only a project's creator, admins, and owners change who's on it.

Roles
- Owner and Admin: manage people, roles, projects, organization policies, billing, and monthly credit limits. They
can't read anyone's private chats.
- Member: chats privately, starts projects, joins All-Access projects, and asks in their projects.
- Guest: added by hand to specific projects, and reads only the chats marked Show to guests: the questions and
answers, without what anyone's tools returned. They see document titles only if Guests see document titles is on in
Settings ▸ People. Guests can't ask or connect anything, and don't count as paid seats on Team.
Owners and admins invite people with a role in Settings ▸ People ▸ Invite someone. A Join link there lets people join as
members.

Who can ask in a project chat
By default anyone on the project but guests can ask. A chat's creator can click Only I can ask here in the project line;
teammates still read it and get Start your own chat instead of the composer. Let everyone ask opens it again.
The project line above a project chat: the project's name, who it's shared with, Only I can ask here, Change, and Show
to guests
Owners and admins can choose the Default for new project chats in Settings ▸ People, and Lock this default to keep every
project chat to its creator.
If you send something while someone else's answer is running, it waits and is asked as your own question once that
answer ends. An organization can let teammates steer each other's answers instead (Who can steer someone else's answer).
Public share links
For a private chat, use Share under any reply, then Create public link. Anyone with the link can read the conversation,
its citations, and document titles, even people outside your company, but not the raw output of your tools or anything
read from your computers. Links expire after 30 days. Settings ▸ Sharing lists your shared chats, with Stop sharing on
each.
