Connecting services

Each person connects their own accounts. The assistant searches them live with your access, so it only finds what you can already see, and your sign-ins are never shared with anyone else. Connect a service 1. Open Settings ▸ Connectors (click your name at the bottom of the sidebar), or click the + on a new chat. 2. Find the service and click Connect. 3. Sign in to the service and accept what it asks. Settings, Connectors: each service on its own row with a Connect button Some services can't be connected by each person alone. For those, an owner or admin first sets the service up for the whole organization in Settings ▸ Connectors. Until then, the row says Needs setup. Read, or Read and change Every connector starts at Read: the assistant can search and read, nothing else. Where a connector can make changes (posting a message, creating a file, sending an email), you can set it to Read and change: - When connecting, click the small arrow beside Connect and choose Read and change. - Once connected, use the Read / Read and change switch under the connector in Settings. If it says "Reconnect to let it make changes", click Reconnect so the service grants the extra permission. The arrow beside Connect opened, offering Read, or Read and change Even at "Read and change", every change waits for your approval. See "Approving changes". Owners and admins can turn changes off for the whole organization (Connectors can make changes in Settings ▸ People); the switch then says "Your organization lets connectors only read." Several accounts of one service If a connector supports it, click the + on its row ("Add another account") and sign in with the other account. Each account gets its own line with its own access level, pause, and disconnect. Click an account's name to rename it, for example "Acme" or "Side project". The assistant uses all of them and shows which account each search or change used. Pause a connector Click the pause button on a connector's row. It stays connected and keeps its sign-in, but the assistant leaves it alone until you click Resume. Pausing only affects you. Disconnect Click the disconnect button (the broken link) on its row and confirm. We delete its tokens and the text we cached from it. For some services you can also remove Chat with Work on their side; see "Deleting your data". MCP servers Under Settings ▸ Connectors ▸ MCP servers, Add server lets you add a remote MCP server by its HTTPS address. Like a connector, it starts at Read, offering only the tools the server labels read-only, and at Read and change every other call waits for your approval. Add only servers you trust: their operators decide what happens to what you send them. An MCP server's row: its address, the Read / Read and change switch, the tools it offers, and buttons to check, edit, pause, or remove it Questions? Approving changes

The assistant never changes anything in your tools on its own. A change can only happen on a connector you set to Read and change, and even then each one waits for you. The approval card When the assistant wants to make a change, the answer pauses and an approval card appears in the chat. Above the composer you'll see "Waiting for your approval. Review", which takes you to it. The card shows: - the service, and which account if you connected several; - one line saying what it will do, such as "Post a message to #general"; - a preview of exactly what will be written: the message, the email, the event, or the file. An approval card for adding a line to your instructions: what it will add, Deny, Approve, and a checkbox to allow such edits for the rest of the chat, with "Waiting for your approval. Review" below it Click Approve and it runs exactly as shown. The answer then carries on. Nothing is spent while a card waits. If you're not looking at the chat when it stops for you, Chat with Work can notify you. Choose how in Settings ▸ Notifications. Deny, with a reason if you like Click Deny to stop it. To steer the assistant, open Deny with a reason first and say what to do instead, for example "Send it to Ana, not the whole channel." The reason goes back to the assistant, which is told not to try the same change again unless you ask. Deny with a reason opened on an approval card, with a reason typed in before clicking Deny You can also just ask something else. The waiting change is then passed over. Allow it for the rest of this chat For an ordinary change, like posting a message or creating a file, the card offers a checkbox: "Allow ... for the rest of this chat". Tick it before Approve, and the same kind of change on the same service and account runs without asking again, in this chat only. The allowance is yours alone. Some changes always ask: - Destructive changes: deleting, overwriting, moving something out of reach, or changing who has access. These cards carry a warning and never offer the checkbox. - Changes that outlive the chat, such as creating a schedule. - After a chat has read files from your computer, only changes on your computers can be allowed for the rest of it, so local text can't leave through another service without you seeing it. A destructive change waiting for approval: deleting a schedule, in a red card that warns it may not be undone, without the checkbox Who approves in a project chat Only the person whose question led to the change can approve or deny it, because it runs with their account. Everyone else in the project sees whose approval it's waiting for, not the preview. Every decision is logged, without its contents. Owners and admins can turn changes off for the whole organization in Settings ▸ People (Connectors can make changes). Questions?
